Sunday morning, July 26, sermon preached by Pastor Brian McLaughlin.
Thank you for joining us today at Fairview Baptist Church! If you are a guest, thank you so much for being here with us. Today, throughout our service, it is my prayer that you will see just how amazing the grace of God truly is and just how free the gift of His righteousness is to those who believe in Him by simple faith. (Romans 3:24) Jesus has changed our lives completely and it is the worship of Him that thrills our hearts. Our desire today is to focus upon Him and His finished work of redemption and also focus upon His ongoing work through the Spirit in our hearts.
Every promise we can make
Every prayer and step of faith
Every difference we can make
Is only by His grace.
Grace alone Which God supplies
Strength unknown He will provide
Christ in us, our cornerstone
We will go forth in grace alone.
For our message this morning, we turn to God’s Word as we seek to expose our selfish tendencies in life. The love of self (selfishness) is one of the most prevalent and subtle sins not only in our society but also in the lives of those that identify with the church. With a sin that is so prevalent and deeply woven into the fabric of our souls, is there any hope of seeing selfishness diminished and destroyed in our lives? I believe we find a clear answer from God’s Word today through the Gospel that there is hope and through exposing the many layers of selfishness and looking to Jesus, we will see the victory that is already ours through Him.
